About Us

At EnviroShop we're about two things; you, and the environment. Our goal is to connect people with the tools they need to live a more sustainable lifestyle.

We were one of the first retail stores to focus on environmentally positive products when we opened the better part of a decade ago. Our experience in the sector goes back even further. For example, our founder & CEO, Mick Harris, was the founding editor of Renew Magazine and is a life member of the Alternative Technology Association (ATA).

How do we choose which products to sell?

The rate of growth in the number of 'green' products has been accompanied by a rise in 'greenwashing'. To help you avoid falling prey to these dubious claims about the environmental standards of a product, we have a set of criteria we judge the value of a product we stock against. We want you to be able to shop with us with a clear conscience, so all of our products link back to the environmental theme of the business, by:

  • being produced in an environmentally friendly way, or a friendlier way than is the standard for that type of product. This means more than just recycled content or nasty chemical free. Our bulk insulation, for example, is thermally rather than chemically bonded, recducing both the toxicity & the ecological footprint of the batts

  • helping people to live their lives in an environmentally sustainable way. Solar panels contain little to no recycled content, but they of course have other benefits

  • educating about good environmental practices. We have books, stickers, t-shirts & magazines that can help you get to the next level of sustainable practices

  • stocking products that directly fund the activities of world changing NGO's like Wilderness Society calendars & diaries.
